Your first sentence is not quite correct. It should read, "If it weren't for people like you there would be no bill of rights".

Please read our Constitution and spend a little time reading the Federalist Papers. The whole idea is that our rights are self evident and granted by God. They are not privileges granted by government. Governments can not, by definition, grant rights or freedoms. Governments can only limit them.

Here's an example.
Does the government grant you the right to ride your Savage? No. They only limit your right to ride... where you can ride, how fast you can go, making you pay for licenses, what type of bike you're allowed to ride on the roads you pay for, what kind of clothing you have to wear while riding (helmet), etc.
(That should satisfy the "Bikes only" crowd.)

Remember, people usually get the government they deserve. Learn your history, not the politically correct garbage the public schools reguritate but the real thing. Read documents written by the historical figures, not the "re-interpretations" found in todays textbooks. Whenever possible, talk to the people who lived through it; your parents, your grandparents, the old fart on the next bar stool (that's me).

You will create the world you live in.
